Two Edits for the Week

Life turned itself on a dime this week.  The couple of edits listed below was a fleeting but nice distraction :>)

For the FlipFlop Edit Challenge:

The before (which I personally would have left alone and would have been very proud of...)

...and my watercolor After

I just saw a  free computer seminar on smart objects/filters on creativelive...
they have more free seminars going through Saturday this week :>)
tune in!

Anyway, I thought I'd try working with the smart objects this time; never have before.
They are similar to working with layers, but don't take up as much computer space.
They are all editable; very flexible.
"Not that bad!"

For the watercolor effect:
Watercolor filter - normal blend mode
Dry brush filter (texture) - screen mode
Median filter (blur/blend) - soft light blend mode
Just played with sliders until I liked it.

Curves, brightness/contrast, red filter, another curves, more contrast adjustment layers...
Added catchlights in eyes with small white brush.
Added a bow (should have done that in the beginning but didn't think of it until later).
Blended some more.
Added frame.

The next edit challenge is from mcp.

The Before...

...and my After

Basic idea:
Created a texture by rendering some clouds, then blended and masked.
Dodged, burned, saturation tools to highlight the Rocketman :>)
Added an omni light render.

Thanks for dropping by.
Now back to harnessing life...
