Adrienne's Senior Photos

I'm usually chasing down the very last beams of sunshine before the beautiful light fades into twilight. I know where to find the scenic backdrops in my meadow and woods during that golden hour.

Rumor has it that the sunrise also has sweeping, unfolding color early in the first morning hour. I've seen it,
but I've never played in it - with my camera :>)

Photographing the sunrise is similar to sunset with its low directional light ~ golden and luscious, but it is different because the anticipation is reversed.  With the onset of early evening, we begin relaxing into poses and smiling easily by playing in the sunlight and expanding shadows before sunset arrives. With sunrise, the dramatic light begins without much adieu, giving no heed to warming up in front of the camera.  And, in Adrienne's case, by "warming up" I mean not just getting comfortable in front of the camera, but honest-to-goodness temperature warming up. Another sunrise difference is in the reversal of light direction, which changes my "backdrop" depending where I can find the light. The meadow, too, has a different look when the sun is highlighting it from the east.

And the quiet hush of early morning is rather pleasant.

Adrienne came out for a unique sunrise photo shoot. There was no time to "warm up" - literally. The brisk autumn sunrise registered at the freezing mark.  Now, sunrise and sunset-colored skies are known to be perfect backdrops for beautiful, formal dresses... so we started the session with her gown, and wow, it was cold. Well, I personally was pretty snug in my parka lol! Thankfully, Adrienne brought along an incredible coat as part of her photo apparel. You'll see it in a little bit, after she froze first. The backlighting colors were incredible however, so it was worth the brief limb numbness :>)

Before I go on, may I say how watching the sunrise increase in its shining intensity reminded me of this Bible verse:
Proverbs 4:18 - The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
Just saying.

So elegant!

Time to warm up ~
Isn't this a terrific vintage coat with its textures and colors woven into it?
And it comes tucked with special meaning for her.

I keep thinking...
"To Russia With Love"

See the light playing in the trees and catching in her eyes?

Well, there's music as well inside those eyes to make them sparkle....

Adrienne is finishing up her future plans for college. As she chatted about her coming decisions, she mentioned how she appreciated a particular college's atmosphere that encouraged worshiping and serving God.  I can "hear" why that's important to her, considering the song in her heart :>)

  1. Oh boy, Aunt Karen-- I've just been "lurking" for a lot of your past posts, viewing them all but not commenting (sorry!) but with the phenomenal colors in these photos I *had* to come say how amazing they are!!! Seriously, I can't get over how beautiful those shots are. Gorgeous. I think my favorite is either the one after your phrase "So elegant!" or the one after the lyrics "None rings truer than this..."

    Beautiful!
